On tues feb 12th i took out papers for the board of selectmen's race. they had to be in by 5 pm with at least 50 registered voters signatures on them. they were turned in by 4pm with 76. most if not all were people i know are actually registered. i decided to run this year because i believe my talents and experiences in town government are needed for the circumstances Holbrook finds itself in right now. we have many issues that need attention. the trash transfer station is the most obvious one but not the only one. i will admit this is issue is the one that made me take the plunge though. i asked questions of rick mcgauhey and others and the answers i got were not good enough for me to feel like they would take care of all the details and serious considerations that are sure to come up. some of these are regarding safety, quality of life issues for homeownwers and business property owners near the proposed site. even more importantly to the people who live in other areas of town and feel like they won't be affected, but who want the revenue it is supposed to bring; i'm not hearing any assurances that we will get enough revenue to make it worth having.
another issue that should concern you as it does me is we will have an election with a non binding referendum question on it. mr mcgaughey and mr currie told yvonne wright that it didn't matter what the result of the election was they were going forward anyway. that didn't surprise me ( although that in itself isn't right) but the next day mon feb 11th he told me that if the election said the people didn't want it they wouldn't do it.. which is it? i think it is time for some straight forward, positive direction around here. you may not like what i say sometimes but you can be sure what i say is what i mean. we have a month and a half to get as much clarification as possible on all the issues facing holbrook. i hope to have an open and ongoing discussion with anyone who wants to do so. i will respect your right and responsibility to ask the questions and i hope you will listen and consider the answers as you make your decision on who to vote for this April 1.

Hey, why do you think the Town Administrator is calling former officials asking them how to borrow money for the town? I have two issues with this; 1. Why doesn't he know how to do that? Isn't that part of his job description? 2. After the way he has treated so many people does he really think that they would extend themselves for him? I think any change in leadership at this point is a good one. We need to get some qualified people in these positions to avail the Town of many opportunities that are now out of our reach. Our bond rating is so low it will cost us so much more to borrow money. I guess we should take some solace in the fact that the chairman of the Board of Assessors is going to tell DOR how to account the enterprise funds. What I think is very troubling is those in power really believe they can use the trash enterprise fund to fund budgets. You cannot do that. It is against the law. Well I hope people make the right choice because in a very short time you will have no business new or old because of the high tax rate and we will not be able to sell our homes when we go into receivership. For those of you that do not think that will happen just keep watching. These guys are going to put us in a very bad financial position. NO tax bills but pay it anyway because we screwed up and the DOR rejected the figures? Come on. The DOR rejected the use of Enterprise funds to fund budgets. Do you think I am going to pay my tax bill without a bill? These figures have yet to be certified so why would anyone pay it? Furthermore if you overpay will they give you a refund right away? I do not think so. Budgets people, budgets. Most of us have them and we live within our budget. Why do those in power feel they do not have to live within their budget? Because there are people who keep voting them in. Well if you do it this time you have only yourself to blame.

"Based on strikingly irrational beliefs and emotions, modern liberals relentlessly undermine the most important principles on which our freedoms were founded," says Dr. Lyle Rossiter, author of the new book, "The Liberal Mind: The Psychological Causes of Political Madness." "Like spoiled, angry children, they rebel against the normal responsibilities of adulthood and demand that a parental government meet their needs from cradle to grave."
While political activists on the other side of the spectrum have made similar observations, Rossiter boasts professional credentials and a life virtually free of activism and links to "the vast right-wing conspiracy."
For more than 35 years he has diagnosed and treated more than 1,500 patients as a board-certified clinical psychiatrist and examined more than 2,700 civil and criminal cases as a board-certified forensic psychiatrist. He received his medical and psychiatric training at the University of Chicago.
Rossiter says the kind of liberalism being displayed by the two major candidates for the Democratic Party presidential nomination can only be understood as a psychological disorder.
"A social scientist who understands human nature will not dismiss the vital roles of free choice, voluntary cooperation and moral integrity – as liberals do," he says. "A political leader who understands human nature will not ignore individual differences in talent, drive, personal appeal and work ethic, and then try to impose economic and social equality on the population – as liberals do. And a legislator who understands human nature will not create an environment of rules which over-regulates and over-taxes the nation's citizens, corrupts their character and reduces them to wards of the state – as liberals do."
Dr. Rossiter says the liberal agenda preys on weakness and feelings of inferiority in the population by:
creating and reinforcing perceptions of victimization;
satisfying infantile claims to entitlement, indulgence and compensation;
augmenting primitive feelings of envy;
rejecting the sovereignty of the individual, subordinating him to the will of the government.
"The roots of liberalism – and its associated madness – can be clearly identified by understanding how children develop from infancy to adulthood and how distorted development produces the irrational beliefs of the liberal mind," he says. "When the modern liberal mind whines about imaginary victims, rages against imaginary villains and seeks above all else to run the lives of persons competent to run their own lives, the neurosis of the liberal mind becomes painfully obvious."

I was wondering if you could possibly take the time to write up all of what you think the problems are in this town and exactly what your experience is that will help us in resolving them. I understand one person can not "fix" all of the issues but if we are being asked to vote for you I would like to know more about your agenda and how you are going to fix ALL of the problems and not just a vote to keep out the transfer station. I think a big part of our problem as a town is many voters back a candiate based on one issue and then we are upset when we don't like the way they vote for other things further down the road.

Sue Wright is against the Transfer Station for one reason only, it does not help her family in the Sale of land for Old English Square. Not that she is worried about everyone else in town. If I am wrong why does Sue push infomration from Mullins, why does she have so many posts about the Mullins group, their websites and why did she do a tv show about the Mullins on Ch9 and nothing else.

“A set up”??? Are you insane or just paranoid? I asked the question as a voter. What could I be setting her up for? There are many candidates that are running and Sue has this GREAT forum for getting her message across. How am I supposed to vote for someone if I don’t know what they stand for on the issues? It is an honest question from a voter not a "set-up" as you call it.
With so many candidates running for the seat how is a voter supposed to know what a candidate stands for. I am trying to be an informed voter and you are making it sound like the candidate has something to hide...

I have lived in this town for over 30 years (my entire life) and the more and more I get to know the politics of this town, the more and more I think I want sell my house and move! Fortunately thanks to my great education (courtesy of parents and the Holbrook Public Schools) I know that it is probably the same everywhere…
I know Sue , I respect Sue , but her actions are based on her own personal agenders .I can not vote for any one whos motivation is personel or for finacial gain .
