Holbrooks New Horizons
We hope this blog will serve as a forum for information and discussion on current events and things that will impact our Town. This is the time for residents to speak up and get involved. We all have a responsibility to do what we can whether that means speaking out here or face to face when the need arises. Remaining silent is as bad as doing the wrong thing. This democracy only works if we work it.

How can we make Independent candidates more viable?
In the effort to accomplish this we have started a new Facebook page as well as a new website called www.Independents4us.orgwww.independents4us.org We hope to be a forum for candidates and supporters who can write their views for the voters information. Also although we want to highlight and promote worthy Independent candidates we welcome Democrats and Republicans. This will enable a side by side comparison which will benefit all. If we are to fix what is wrong with this Country, we need all the voices we can get. If you don't believe that we can effect change just look at what has happened today with Harry Reid and his cronies That disgusting spending bill will not go to a vote because he knows he doesn't have the votes. That is a direct reflection of the PEOPLE standing up and yelling out their displeasure. Let's keep it up and do more!

Have You Noticed Something BIG???
Hello There is finally some motion at Old English Square! Three really big pieces of equipment have been out in the fields cutting scrub brush and making the beginnings of the road to the pastures along the cemetery.
They have also been doing the work ok'd by Com Comm out in the middle of the pastures. You might not see them working but at the end of the day they are parked at the top of the driving range hill. Finally!
Dd you know that the Farmers Market was something that Mike Mullins has had planned for the development too? Just another piece in the puzzle. Mike wanted the outside edges to be farmed which will try to keep the general feel of the place; not just be like a generic development with housing and blacktop ( boring). Steve has planted a Big garden which we hope will produce lots of fresh veggies to sell at the market. So far so good the corn is up and the squash are getting big. The rain that's coming should push everything ahead. Now we just have to keep the deer, woodchucks, and bunnies from using as their own cafeteria.

Holbrook Farners Market
We have a start date for the Market! Saturday July 10th from 8:30 am until 1 pm! We have some farmers lined up and we're trying to get as many local participants as possible. I just had one of our tomatoes! Really delicious! If you have some veggies that are ready or you can tell someone else who does give me a call to reserve your spot. The cost to sell at the market is $25 per day. There will be more than just veggies. Honey, Eggs, Flowers and Plants. Compost, Organic Fertilizer, Green Heating and Cooling methods, hopefully some baked goods etc.......

Exciting Possibility!
This past week Amy Ambroult and I met to discuss a farmers market for Holbrook. She had already done a lot of investigation and had put together some contacts. I have asked many customers, friends, just people in passing and have gotten great positive response. If you have a garden, or you have thought of planting one, maybe you can team up with a friend or two and produce something which you could sell or even trade for another's produce. After watching the documentary on our food supply, we can't get the market done soon enough. Any ideas or feed back can be sent to holbrookfm@gmail.com.
