Not Worth the Effort

To the nameless, faceless, gutless, worthless nobody who wrote into the sound off about me the reason i have not been posting to the blog is it is not worth it. I started this as exactly what it says in the header on the front page. However, usually the only people who wrote in really had no clue and i got sick of trying to have serious, thoughtful discussions with morons. You turned out not to be worthy of my time or effort.
I will correct you regarding my stand on economic development in Holbrook. There is not one single person who has worked harder to encourage and foster growth in both business and sensible residential construction for this town. It would be nice if you knew what you were talking about before you wrote such opinions. Ask anyone who regularly attended planning board and other boards meetings. The self serve gas stations are a red herring and a feeble attempt by a board that has done absolutely nothing to add to our tax base. You can say what you want about Jim Riechert but he knows all about gas stations and he told me that a Mobil on the Run needs 2 million gallons of gas flowing through it for them to invest in one. The whole town only has 3 million gallons altogether. That number is in decline due to the prices so kiss that stupid idea goodbye. Also the board and others can lay the blame on Katherine for holding up Old English (and she did do that), but Rick and Rob got her elected for a reason. What do you think that was? huh?? They didn't have the guts to do their own dirty work and they knew she would. Whatever, as i said even this response is a waste of my time but i just had to put it on the record. Don't bother to write back i won't post it, go to hell.

Very interesting slam both in the Sun and then here. It is obvious that the writer in the Sun has no idea what they are talking about. Take it from somebody that was there right from the start of Old English Square. Along with several other projects in town. While there is some truth to Sue's allegation as to the whom backed whom in the selectmens race. They are not totally correct. The idea of a Mobil on the run is a joke. Much to the delight of those who supported the drive through ice cream stand that never panned out. Holbrook probably houses the only Burger King that operates at a loss. So what kind of fool would invest in another loss in town. Let's be real, Until you do something about the infrastructure and tax rates for business, there is no reason a business is coming to Holbrook. Furthermore, until you through the obstructionist out of office that fights every business venture at town hall, your not going to have anything. It is the way it is my friends.

Sue , did not find in the sun what you referr to , so not every one knows what you are talking about. dont get pissed of at people who dont know what thy are talking about .I have nown you for 30 yesr and we may not have agreed on many things but we worked at trying to bring sensable projects in to help our tax base .Most of your readers dont know that on the horizon is Giosio 21 house lots at 500,000 --Mullins project $$$--Transfer station -$$$ and the develpment of the land across from Hallamore .the tax $$$ from these is considerable . And if the boards allow it , it will happen .

Attached is the DA's response received by the Board of Selectmen on Monday June 2, 2008.
Basically, the ADA in a telephone conversation told me the election vote taken by the board on May 6 was taken in an illegally posted meeting. The DA's office would have to take the town to court to rescind the vote and that the DA's office would not expend their resources doing that. He further expalined that the open meeting law leaves a lot to be desired and that the way it's written today there is little enforcement action or penalities he can impose. Alexei agreed the law needed to be reformed and was glad the legislature is considering that currently.
Regarding the executive session, Alexei found the town's arguments flimsy but again the open meeting law doesn't provide enough structure and power to his office. Arthur George & Mike Yunits both told the DA's office that the town is in the very beginning stages of lease negotiations with Holbrook Environmental Logistical Partnership. Despite the fact the first draft lease was received by the town in August 2006, and that the town has spent thousands of dollars having Kopelman & Paige review the lease in the past year and a half. The lease the board is now considering contains none of the edits, corrections or clauses recommended by Kopelman & Paige to protect the town's interests. So we are back to the Jack Walsh/Bill Merrigan version of a draft lease that favors the proponent to the detriment of the town of Holbrook.

Sue I put this information out for you only as a favor. I feel the towns people are entitled to both sides of the story regardless of my personal feelings on the issue. In the final draft of any lease, or of any agreement it is not about making the owners of HELP wealthy As A former elected member of a board in the town of Holbrook, It was my sworm duty to get the best deal for the town of Holbrook. Rather that deal was with the Mullens Company or Help. I never backed down from that stance. It seems others should adopt a simular view and I don't mean a light control in Holbrook Square for the stop lights. Let's face it Sue, the town goverment reminds me of a bunch of old drunks who feel the town does not deserve the best. The sooner the people get rid of that stinkin thinkin and decide they do deserve the best then maybe things will get better. A transfer station is not the end of the world. How it is run and who runs it could be. Old English Square is not a bad thing. Done right and with commonsence it could of been great. But the bigots we have in office and some that are now out didn't want "them people" in town. Will someone please explain who "them people" are so we all know who them are? Some of "them people" are nicer and smarter than those who make "them comments". They have more class thats for sure. When you think about all the things Holbrook could of had and what they have passed up, you have to wonder if there is a problem with the air quality in town hall. I often wonder if the ghost of the town's founder is haunting its leaders for naming it Holbrook instead of dumbsville. You have to admit is pretty crazy when you look at the whole picture.
